Johnson Family Pastures

Took a little drive to Fredrick, WI to Johnson Pasture Farms to pick up our quarter cow and tour the farm. Y’all, it was the most beautiful farming operation I have ever seen. I’ve learned a lot about regenerative farming over the past year listening to various podcasts and have been eager to support a farm that practices this type of farming. In the last few years they have restored land with soil that was depleted and through their practices will eventually be carbon neutral. It was astonishing to be at a farm with livestock and have no “farm” smell come to my nostrils. The animals roam free. They are rotated on a certain schedule to ensure the grass is never harmed and the soil nutrients are replenished, which allows the animals to eat grass that is full of necessary nutrients that humans will then get, too! I could go on and on about how current farming depletes us of necessary nutrients that our bodies need….but alas, another time. Or look it up. If you eat meat, I encourage you to visit Johnson Family Pastures at a local Minneapolis farmers market to not only get delicious meat, but to get meat you know is raised in a humane, environmentally attentive way.
