Owner Susan Simmons, farm manager Todd Matthews and the team at Edgewood Operations raise beef cattle outdoors on pasture without the use of hormones or subtherapeutic antibiotics. The cattle are never confined to a feedlot and always have access to grazing and forage throughout the surrounding pastures and woods, where they can demonstrate natural behaviors. Rotational grazing ensures the cattle always have access to the most nutritious forage and allows grass to recover before they return to graze again; it also keeps the soil properly fertilized and minimizes the build-up of internal parasites.
